Regency Romance
Caroline Torrington is not a slim beauty. Voluptuous
and heavier than her other female counterparts, she
often assumes the role of a wall-flower, convinced that
she is not attractive. This conviction is further served
when the love of her life asks for her hand in marriage.
A marriage of convenience, that is.
Lord Lucas Foxhaven is determined to avoid the long
reaching tentacles of his father, and open a school for
orphaned boys. In order to do so, he must marry Caroline
to receive his grandmother’s estate. Caroline has always
been a dear childhood friend, and Lucas is shocked to
discover how much he wants his wife. But to have her
would mean that they would not be able to divorce, and
surely Caroline will not want to be saddled with Lucas
forever.
With no truths spoken between them, and the secrets
creating an even larger rift, Caroline is distraught.
When she is tricked into a scandal and forced to abandon
London, Lucas sends her back to their country home. But
Caroline has had enough manipulation by Lucas, and she
is determined to travel to Paris with her extended
family. Little does Caroline realize that her cousins
are not so trustworthy. Nor does Caroline realize that
she is an heiress in her own right. Playing right into
nefarious hands, will Lucas come to Caroline’s rescue in
time? Or will all their miscommunications result in
losing each other forever?
When a novel is enthralling and frustrating all at the
same time, one knows that novel is worth reading again.
The angst at discovering just when the hero and heroine
will confide their secrets, and the joy when that occurs
in just one sign that says this novel is fabulously
written. A true joy to read, with lovable characters and
a terrific plot. What a wonderful author!
