It's
been a year since Texas Ranger Caleb McCain rescued Belle Doe from
a
racist religious cult that viciously beat her to remove the
stain of her
Mexican heritage. The cult had found her dumped on the street with
a .22
caliber bullet in her brain and no memory of how she ended up
there or who
she was. During that year, Caleb had become the anchor in Belle's
life,
always there supporting her and working her case. With time and
professional help, snatches of her former life are slowly coming
back to
her. Caleb knows that soon Belle would no longer need him, and
that he
would have to step back and let her have her old life
back--without him.
Belle Doe is really Josie Marie Beckett and the answer to her
mystery is
back in the town named after her late father's family. But until
they
determine who tried to murder her, Caleb's staying by her side,
even if he
has to take on one of the most powerful men in Texas--her
grandfather.
Caleb McCain, the Texas Ranger, isn't afraid of anything--but
Caleb
McCain, the man, is afraid of losing Josie Belle...but a Texas
Ranger
always gets the job done despite a breaking heart. Who in Beckett.
Texas
wants Josie dead?
SON OF TEXAS is a superb page-turner that immerses the reader
quickly into
the suspense of who Belle Doe is. This reviewer couldn't put the
book down
until all the questions were answered thanks to Ms. Warren's
smooth yet
crisp prose and the skill which she slowly unfolds Belle's
identity. Ms.
Warren did the research on amnesia and post-traumatic stress
disorder and
Josie's is totally real and believable. Ms. Warren makes The
Becketts
as colorful and devious as that other famous Texan family, the
Ewings! Yet
slowly and awkwardly, the Becketts move toward becoming a real
family.
Caleb McCain is a hunk and real hero who tugs at your heartstrings
and you
just ache for him to have his happy ending. SON OF TEXAS is the
third book
in Linda Warren's McCain Brothers series and it's so good, you'll
want to
hunt down Ms. Warren's entire backlist. Highly recommended!
