RELUCTANT RUNAWAY
(To Catch A Thief Series - Book Two)

March 2007
Inspirational - Romantic Suspense

Security expert Desiree Jacobs and her FBI boyfriend Tony Lucano are attending a White House costume party, when word comes that Desi's friend's niece is missing. The niece, Karen, has experienced some trouble in her young life but she met a wonderful Christian man, who was very instrumental in turning her life around. The two now have a four month old baby and a loving marriage. Why would Karen just take off?

It is at this point that I need to mention and remind readers that are familiar with this series, that there are underlying factors in Desi and Tony's relationship. The first is that Desi takes risks that frighten Tony. He's all about keeping her safe, she all about pushing it to the limit. The second is that Desi is concerned that Tony's career will eventually terminate their relationship. Shortly after Karen disappears, Desi and her friend travel to New Mexico intending to do some investigating of Karen's disappearance. Once they arrive in Albuquerque, they are greeted by the police. Desi is the head of the security firm that is protecting an Indian artifacts exhibit at the university and there's been a theft. As it turns out, Tony is in New Mexico investigating another matter, that could tie-in to Karen's disappearance. Add to the mix a bizarre religious faction which makes for one heck of a investigation and Desi and Tony are smack dab in the middle of it!

RELUCTANT RUNAWAY is a stunner of a story! Never in this reader's wildest imagination could I have imagined such a shocking, yet believable story line. Well paced, with just the right amount of romance and intrigue, RELUCTANT RUNAWAY is a wonderful asset to this series. The Inspirational aspect is woven throughout the story but it is not done in a preachy manner and clearly adds to the mood of the book. If you have not read book one in the series, RELUCTANT BURGLAR, don't worry about it, RELUCTANT RUNAWAY works just fine as a stand-alone and in my opinion it is a must read.
