Sarafina Lovell and Jackson Thomas were soul mates in
college and the ending should have been happily ever
after. But because of family pressures Jackson chose to
leave everything they shared to work for his familyʼs
business. Itʼs been a few years but for Saraʼs
twenty-fifth birthday Jackson returns. Not feeling him
or any oyher because of her latest fiasco with a man,
she runs every time he gets close. But that game doesnʼt
last forever as Saraʼs feelings take over her need to
have him once again.
Jackson knows that he has really screwed up when he
walked away from Sara, but heʼs willing to do anything
to get her back. They find themselves spending time
together and the old feelings are there, but so is his
snooty mother. Jacksonʼs family riches were one of the
things that made Sara uncomfortable in the past and she
has no plans on becoming a part of a family that is so
materialistic. Despite his pleas her answer remains no.
When they are both finally throwing in the towel,
something happens to Jackson that proves that to both of
them love canʼt be ignored.
In this story Ms. Monkou identifies with the feelings of
losing a loved one by choice and being given a second
chance. Sarafina works hard at denying her real feelings
because she is afraid that she will be hurt again. And
Jackson is just as determined to correct a bad decision
he made the first time around. Together these two have a
rough time of getting this thing called love right. The
story is an enjoyable read that contains not just their
story but also engages you in Saraʼs life with her
sorority sisters.
