Caine Allen and two of his fellow Texas Rangers are
on a mission to find four women that have been kidnapped
by outlaws. Once the Rangers reach the area where the
women are being held, it's easy to see that three of the
women are terrified and cowering, while the fourth puts
up a winning fight. For Caine and his partners it is no
challenge to destroy the outlaws but getting all four
women to return with them is a challenge. Three want to
return to their families, the fourth puts up a serious
fight with good reason.
Desi, the young blonde wayward temptress, is stressed to
the limit. A year ago she and her twin sister were
victims of a Comanche raid, the two were separated and
Desi has no idea the fate of her sister. Her own fate
was horrible. She has been abused mentally, physically
and sexually. Being named the ward of one of the town's
citizens was a horrible mistake! Being kidnapped was an
opportunity to get away from a horrible situation.
Caine senses something is not right in the other women's
reaction to Desi and he learns even more when he reaches
town. It appears Desi has only one friend, the local
priest and he bribes Caine into doing an honorable thing
in marrying Desi and sheltering her away from the town.
With Caine and his friends and family of Hell's Eight,
life is about to become a lot easier for Desi, but will
it become happier, bringing back the peace and
contentment she once had as a sheltered, wealthy young
lady?
CAINE'S RECKONING is a HOT, gritty, passionate western
historical romance. It is filled with plenty of bad guys
and raw emotional romance. There are many stories in
this novel that are untold and Desi and Caine's romance
lay the ground work for many more riveting tales to
come. While it is a romance, the erotic aspect is key
and the sexual scenes do not always reflect a romantic
interlude. Still, this is a book that is well worth
reading and readers will love Caine and Desi. CAINE'S
RECKONING will definitely end up on your keeper shelf.
