The legend of Robin Hood has been told many times, in
many ways, but never with the intensity that Mr. Lawhead
brings with his new trilogy King Raven. Nor have I ever
read the story with the setting in Wales during the 11th
Century.
In book one, HOOD, we watch as Bran Brychan finds
himself not only the new King but also a hunted man. At
the death of his father, Bran, the spoiled boy had to
become a man; however his transition is neither easy nor
wanted. As he flees to the forest to save his life he
finds more than he expected.
The battle between good and evil, right and wrong has
begun, but will Bran find himself on the side of good or
evil? Can a hero come in the form of an unlikely man?
While we all know the tale of Robin Hood, Mr. Lawhead’s
new take on the old stories will keep readers completely
immersed within Bran’s story. I do not offer much by way
of the story as readers will need to learn the details
themselves. There will be a few surprises, characters
you’ll know, and a fresh new idea for where the legend
began. There are inspirational touches but not in the
way most readers would expect. This is one read that
fans of historical fiction with paranormal elements,
will want to read. I am eager to see where Mr. Lawhead
takes this series.Reviewed by Wendy
