THEFT is a collection of five short stories which
explore the intricacies and foibles of women across the
world (or at least in Europe and Africa). N. S. Koenings
has a particular style of writing that I think a reader
is either going to love or hate. It is readily apparent
that the author is well read and erudite. The tone of
the stories, the words used, the references alluded to,
all require someone of a fairly educated back ground to
appreciate. That being said, this is going to severely
limit the audience that this book is going to appeal to.
Do you like to think about your stories after you read
them? Are you attracted works that are artistic and
creative? Then you have found your pick in THEFT. If you
are looking for a lighter read, or quicker action packed
stories, then this is probably not the route to go.
While all of these stories have an underlying theme of
liberation and empowerment, they did so in a manner
which this reader felt was dragging.
