Suspense Romance
Former FBI Special Agent Sloane Burbank survived a
life threatening injury in the line of duty, but had to
leave the job she loves to recuperate. Now, as an
independent consultant, she can use her skills in the
real world helping to solve cases and teach crisis
resolution. When she is called in to help a childhood
friend's parents find her, almost a year after her
disappearance, she is forced to work with her ex-lover
Derek Parker, who is the FBI agent in charge. And Derek
is not happy that he has been called back on a case he
considers cold. But, as more women disappear and a link
between them all becomes evident, Sloane and Derek will
have to put their differences aside to help save these
women. As the killers method becomes evident, they
realize that Sloane is the ultimate target. Suddenly,
their differences seem petty. But can they reach an
understanding before all is taken from them, again?
TWISTED is a perfect example of fate in our lives. As
Sloane works diligently to find out what happened to her
childhood friend, the killer she is seeking circles
around her. When she shows up at crime scene after crime
scene to try to get into his mind, he has left hints for
her to find. Each step is leading her closer to him, and
he to his ultimate goal of having her. When Derek is
brought into the scene, you can tell there is some
serious unfinished business between he and Sloane. Each
are nursing broken hearts, but neither wants to give an
inch to the other. Watching their fate unfold makes you
sit back and cheer for all the times in life, that we
run off half cocked and the real answer to situations
lie somewhere between our perception and the actual
truth. But can Derek and Sloane find their way back to
each other before Sloane is captured? And how does the
killer know so much about her? Who is he? Why is he
doing this? Even when you figure out the who, the why
will keep you guessing until the very end.
Andrea Kane is an excellent writer who engages her
audience from the start and never lets them go until the
end. Even after that, she leaves you closing the book,
but wanting more. This is a terrific read for those who
love a romantic mystery.
