Karen Bryant once a tough policewoman is now in
charge of a project that will keep her community safe in
Cleveland. She has organized people from several walks
of life, but one in particular was given to her from her
brother. Officer Caro Spencer is assigned to represent
the police department, helping to keep the kids active
and out of trouble. He starts off on the wrong foot with
Karen though when he arrives at her meeting late. She
lights into him and he storms out leaving her talking to
his back.
Caro Spencer, a police officer moved from the burglary
division to the community affairs division temporarily
because of an injury, is not happy. Having ill feelings
about being transferred he is more than upset to learn
that he will be on a committee that will keep him away
from any type of action. And the nerve that Karen would
try to humiliate him in front of everyone and expect him
to go along with it, never. Yet after Karen calls her
brother and he sheds light on what Caro is dealing with,
she waves the flag and invites the two of them to dinner
at her house. For most people sparks fly when there is
sexual tension in the room, but for Karen and Caro there
are flames blazing. Not taking the time to get
acquainted, they let their bodies make the introductions
instead of their heads.
Because both Karen and Caro have issues their timing
couldn't be worst. She has her project to keep moving,
and a nightmare of issues when the last person she put
away gets out, and dealing with Caro's hot and cold
advances isn't helping. Caro is secretly working on a
burglary case and fighting his feelings for Karen as he
tries to work with her project. Not able to completely
forgo the lust they have for each other, things only get
more complicated as they work together on his case,
while trying to protect Karen from her number one enemy.
Ms. Jones has written a story with more than enough
passion for anyone who is truly into romantic escapades.
Karen and Caro are so hot together that just looking at
each other sets them on fire. Add in the suspense from
both of their police lives and the pages just keep you
turning waiting to see what will happen next.
Unfortunately this is Ms. Jones final work before she
passed away. She described her writing style as
contemporary romance fiction with a twist. I had the
pleasure of reading most of her other work and I believe
that her writing style will truly be missed.
