Meg Powell and Carson McKay were raised side by side
on their families farms. Destined at a young age to be
together, it was a huge shock when twenty-one year old
Meg announced she would be marrying someone else. But
Brian's proposal was one she couldn't refuse. Seventeen
years later, Meg's marriage has become routine as she
spends time juggling her medical practice and the
demands of her teenage daughter, Savannah. After a long
absence, Carson returns home to prepare for his wedding
to a younger woman. As Carson struggles to determine
where his heart and future lie, Meg makes a shocking
discovery that will upset the very balance of her life.
SOUVENIR is an intense, true to life story of a young
woman who puts her wants and desires on the back burner
for the benefit of her family. Meg does what is expected
of her, but not what her heart wants her to do. Thrown
into a world she never asked to be a part of, she does
the best she can. She loves her daughter and makes a
successful career for herself. But her marriage is dead.
In reality, was it ever alive when her heart has always
belonged to the one she left? Carson has never forgotten
her either. When he comes back to his hometown with his
young bride to finalize some wedding plans, he hopes to
not run into Meg, so he doesn't have to explain what he
is sure will show on his face. That he still loves her.
This story takes you by the heart and leads you where
all of us hope to never be, yet cannot help but soak up
the life lesson.
Theresa Fowler has a magical way of writing. She makes
Meg's story seem like it could easily be your life. To
teach us all that life's path is not what we choose it
to be, it is what we make of it. And those things that
we truly love, those things closest to our hearts, those
are our souvenirs. Those things that we leave behind for
the ones we loved deeply, since we can't take them with
us when we go. Or can we?
SOUVENIR is a must read for those who love to dive into
a excellent love story, find a common vein throughout it
that may parallel their own lives, and then allows them
to cry their guts out in the end. Bravo to Ms. Fowler!
