Mystery

When Chloe Carter finds a body in her friend's refrigerated fish truck parked behind Simmer, her boyfriend-chef's restaurant, she has to investigate. The victim is Leandra, an unlikeable waitress at Simmer. Simmer's doing really well for a new trendy restaurant, but with being closed down for a couple days as a crime scene and with the rumor mill in full operation, anything negative might send the restaurant spiraling onward despite Josh's fabulous menu.

Not only does Chloe have to contend with a homicide, she has to soothe and encourage Adrianna, her pregnant best friend, who isn't overjoyed about becoming a mother, plus keep her eye on Owen, Adrianna's fiance, who owned the truck where the body was found. Then there's the matter of studying for her social work finals and writing term papers and having all those delicious meals at Simmer, and trying to steal a minute or two with her own personal chef boyfriend--Chloe's plate is full...as Chloe tries to uncover the truth, she finds out some interesting info about the restaurant business and stirs up a murderer who dishes out almost more than Chloe can take...

If you enjoy cozy and culinary mysteries, then the Gourmet Girl series is perfect for you! I just love this series because the characters have come alive for me and have become good friends--Chloe and Josh, Adrianna and Owen...and Simmer's the restaurant I want to visit! Chloe's maturing and turning out to be quite the social worker to be...especially interesting in this latest entry in the series is all the inside gossip and info about the restaurant business, something author Jessica Conant-Park has the low-down on from being married to her own chef...while reading TURN UP THE HEAT, you'll be famished from all the fabulous food mentioned, and if you're so inclined, there are lots of yummy recipes in the back of the book. TURN UP THE HEAT is the third delicious book in the Gourmet Girl series with STEAMED being the first and SIMMER DOWN the second. TURN UP THE HEAT is highly recommended!
