Michelle
Nelson knew that having been a past Miss Horseradish would come
back to haunt her. Indeed it does five years later when she's
asked to
compete in a scavenger hunt and judge a horseradish recipe contest
in the
Horseradish Festival in her hometown of Carbon Hill. To make it
worse, she
can't say no the to Festival's organizer--her best friend. As a
struggling
dessert chef in a Chicago restaurant, Michelle barely has the time
to
sleep, much less go home again to her midwestern hometown. When
she finds
out that the scavenger hunt has turned into a couple's contest,
and the
winners will be deemed Carbon Hill's Sexiest Couple, she has to
rely upon
her brother to find her a partner. Her brother comes to her rescue
and who
does he dig up for her? Only Ryan Slater, the one guy in Carbon
Hill she
has a history with. Some history--Michelle had chased Ryan all
summer
five years previously, and caught him. Michelle was madly in love,
and on
the night before leaving for cooking school, she willingly offered
herself
to Ryan only--horrors upon horrors--to somehow cause Ryan not to
be able
to perform. Michelle shoved Ryan to the back of her heart and
moved on
with her life away from Carbon Hill. Now she's paired up with him
for the
scavenger hunt, and looking as gorgeous as ever, he wants to talk
about
their past as they figure out clues, dodge paintball attacks,
watch their
backs thanks to a jealous rival ex-beauty queen, ride a zip line
across
the river, and hunt for treasure. The unexpected treasure they
find is so
much more than the actual treasure hunt provides--they find each
other and the joy of
daring to dream.
What I liked about EX, WHY, AND ME is as simple as A-B-C! It's a
fun, sexy
contemporary romance that's not only humorous, sensual, and savvy,
it's
also a 'road' romance as Michelle and Ryan participate in the
scavenger
hunt throughout the town of Carbon Hill. Beside humor, Ms. Carr
has a gift
for witty, snappy dialogue that makes reading EX, WHY, AND ME a
delight.
Yet despite the fun and humor, EX, WHY, AND ME is serious as
Michelle and
Ryan learn about themselves and each other and the importance of
daring to
dream. Susanna Carr is a writer to keep your eye on! Highly
recommended!
