Historical Romance
DISTRACTING THE DUCHESS is a lively tale of a young
widow, Lady Artemisia Pelham-Smythe and Trevelyn
Deveridge, a British spy. Mistaken identity lands
Trevelyn into a heap of trouble when finds himself the
object of Artemisia's latest creation. Artemisia takes
one look at him and all creativity is thrown to the
wind. Trevelyn's mission is to uncover the whereabouts
of the mysterious Mr. Josiah Beddington and determine
the connection to Artemisia's family. Artemisia is very
familiar with Beddington but feigns ignorance when
Deveridge begins asking too many questions about the
gentleman and her family. Before everything is said and
done, the pair will find themselves the object of one
reporter's salacious stories in the Tattler; trying to
find a murderer; thwart a betrothal and a bevy of other
adventures before finding what they want and need - each
other.
DISTRACTING THE DUCHESS is an enjoyable story that will
keep readers interested from page one! I appreciated how
the author gave Artemisia's character strength and
intelligence in contrast to Trevelyn's self-confident
persona. Ms. Bryan has penned a great story and
historical fans will want to pick this title up as it is
gives you a little bit of everything from intrigue to
murder to love.
