Cameron Butler is a single mom,
running a daycare center and trying to open a school to prove to
herself and her family that she is capable of supporting her
daughter. She has never shared with her family why her
daughter's father is not a prominent figure in their lives.
Then one day after an accident at the daycare center, she finds
herself looking into the eyes of the one man she thought she
would never see again, Dr. Marek Redding. The shock of
seeing him attend to one of her students brings back memories
that she would rather forget.
The last thing Marek Redding expected to see while attending to
one of his patients was the one woman that touched his soul and
left a mark. When Cameron Butler entered the emergency
room at the hospital, the sight of her caused something to stir
inside him. Engaging in small talk while the patient was
having x-rays felt uncomfortable for both of them, and Cameron
was afraid that he would find out about her little secret.
Trying to stay focused on the reason why she’s at the
hospital, Cameron found a way to switch their attention to the
child that was in her care, instead of their past.
When Marek found out that he fathered a child and Cameron
had hidden that fact from him, he felt cheated and insisted on
becoming a permanent part of Jayla’s life. Of course he
wanted the entire package, Cameron and Jayla, but he was
determined to make sure that Cameron not interfere in his
relationship with his daughter. Shortly after his
appearance in their lives, Cameron’s grandmother suffers a
stroke and Marek moves in with them to assist Cameron in caring
for their daughter. One thing leads to another, Cameron
and Marek rekindle the fire that they shared in the past, and it
seems to be just hot as it was before.
Their only problem is Cameron’s ability to trust men.
Her father has always told her that she couldn’t trust men, so
when she catches Marek in a compromising position with her
ex-roommate, she believes that her father was right. This
belief keeps her from listening to Marek’s reason of what
happened in the past and blocks her from trusting him with her
heart. When her parents come to visit her, she is finally
forced to choose between the man she loves and her father.
Listening to her heart, she finally makes her decision.
This is a book that I would recommend to everyone because it
keeps things real. The characters in this book will remind
you of people know that may be faced with similar situations.
The interesting thing for me was that fact that Cameron’s
father warned her not to trust men, but I guess he never thought
about the fact that he was a man and he expected her to trust
him. It will be hard for you to read this love story and
not feel something. |
