Elizabeth Roberts works as a stockbroker at Crawford and Associates, but has always had a passion for art.  So while she holds down her job, she is also looking for a place to open an art gallery that will allow her to display the works of artists that are having a difficult time showing their work.  Before she finds the perfect location though, a coworker, Paul, asks her to take over his accounts while he takes a leave of absence from the firm and a newcomer joins the firm.  Liz is not looking for someone to share her life with, but her friend Janna has other plans.  It appears that Janna’s husband, Dave, knows the new man in town, Adam Gregory, and can’t help giving matchmaking a try.

Adam Gregory has just accepted a position at Crawford and Associates after leaving a firm where his coworkers handled some of the accounts in unethical ways.  A fresh start as a stockbroker was the only thing he sought, but there was something about Liz that caught his eye, and he decided to invest some time in getting to know her better.  Since neither one of them was really looking for a relationship, they took their time to get to know each other.  While Liz and Adam were getting closer, Liz discovered some activity with Paul’s accounts that looked suspicious.  Not wanting to accuse him falsely, Liz decided to wait to discuss her findings with him before bringing it to management’s attention.  But before she decides what to do, others in the firm, including Adam, suspect something is amiss with Paul’s accounts and start looking into the accounts before the SEC is notified.

As Liz moves forward with the opening of her gallery, things heat up between her and Adam because she will not disclose the problems with Paul’s accounts.  Not wanting to believe that he would lose Liz over ethics within the office, Adam starts to suspect foul play when Paul shows up at the grand opening of the gallery.  After Paul leaves the gallery, he dies and things start to happen to Liz.  Adam worries about Liz’s safety and enlists the help of his friend to help watch over her especially after she is involved in two incidents where she could have been seriously harmed.  Liz regrets pushing Adam away and decides that its time she lets him back into her life.  As their relationship gets back on track, another attempt is made on Liz’s life.

Marilyn Tyner has written an enjoyable suspense romance book with a surprise ending.  Liz is a little careful about becoming involved in a serious relationship but Adam has a lot of patience and gives her all the time she needs to feel comfortable.  From the beginning, you can tell that these two people were meant for each other.
