Imagine for a moment that you are a young widow with a 2 1/2 year old daughter. One day an attractive man comes to your door and tells you that the child you have raised and loved is not the child you gave birth to. As crazy as that sounds, you are presented with evidence that the child you hold so dear was switched at birth and is in fact the missing heir to a very, very rich and powerful family. This nightmare has just become a reality for Stef Shelton and her daughter Keely.

Mitch Halloran knew when he took this job with the Find Riana Collingwood Foundation that it wasn't going to be easy. Further complicating matters is the instant attraction Mitch feels towards the woman whose heart he just broke with the knowledge that her little girl wasn't her biological daughter. However, if Mitch is able to solve this case, and return each child to their own family, then he just might be able to forgive himself for the child he could not save and finally be the man his grandfather raised him to be.

Wow! As the mother of two precious girls I felt an immediate connection to Stef. What an impossible situation for any parent to find himself or herself in! Stef's strength and presence of mind are inspiring. Her attraction to Mitch is realistically tempered by all that is happening around her, including the very real possibility that she will lose not only the child she has loved but also the one who was stolen from her. Mitch is a likable and believable hero; the clash of his profession with his personal life is powerfully felt.

Nearly all of the characters from THE BUTLER'S DAUGHTER also figure prominently in this second installment of The Collingwood Heirs story. Although Ms. Sullivan provides enough back story so that OPERATION BASSINET can stand alone well, I feel readers would be doing themselves a disservice if they did not read THE BUTLER'S DAUGHTER first. Only then will the full emotional impact of OPERATION BASSINET be appreciated. With true-to-life characters, heart wrenching suspense and fiery passion, OPERATION BASSINET contains all of the qualities that make Harlequin Intrigue books such fun to read!
