Written in first person point of view and set on one of Hawaii’s luscious islands, FLIP-FLOPPED is a sure winner for anyone seeking a fun, fast-paced read!  Keeley Baker-Kekuhi’s life flip-flops after she discovers her husband’s affair with a hula dancer.  Suddenly, she’s instigating divorce proceedings, valiantly defending herself against her husband’s aggressive lawyers, struggling to maintain custody of her son, and is stuck pet-sitting a forty-six inch iguana.  To top things off, Keeley is back on the dating scene, and she’s not having the time of her life!

FLIP-FLOPPED truly touches the heart as the reader follows Keeley’s journey through pitfall after pitfall on a road to recovery from betrayal.  Delightful supporting characters such as Regatta, the faithful friend, Morna, the quirky divorce attorney, and Ian, a possible romance, bring humor and humanity to a too-real divorce situation.

Ms. Smolinski drags the reader into Keeley’s thoughts from the first paragraph and doesn’t release the reader until long after the book is put away.  Throughout the reading of this novel, I kept thinking “this novel would make a great movie!”  I was astonished to discover that FLIP-FLOPPED is Ms. Smolinski’s first book—she’s definitely a star on the rise, and I cannot wait to read her next book!
