Joanna Weston's life has been full of heartache these last two years. She is looking forward to her temporary pediatric position, in the town of Enchantment, New Mexico; to help heal the wounds that losing her infant son and her husband have made in her heart. She has a new family, consisting of her newly adopted dog and a lame horse. Little does she know that her heart will become deeply involved in Enchantment and one of its most eligible bachelors, Ben Carson, who is the father of one of her first patients. But, the chance of a lifetime is awaiting her when she returns to Southern California from her three-month stay. Will she follow her career or her heart?
Ben Carson is amazed to find himself warming to the smile and intelligence of the town's newest resident, Dr. Joanna Weston. He is also more amazed to find out that a baby has been left on his front porch, complete with a note saying he is the father. Now, not only is he responsible for his elderly aunt and nephew, he has to learn all about being a father to a precious little girl. Before he knows what is going to happen next, he finds himself head over heels in love with his baby daughter and her pediatrician.
Christmas at Shadow Creek is book # 3 in the Harlequin Superromance series, The Birth Place. This is a very sweet tale of two people who find that they need each other to help heal their souls. Along the way, families are bound closer together and set to rights again. Many interesting events and plot twists keep this story moving along at a very enjoyable pace. I was truly enchanted with this story and the people in this small town.
Be sure to check out the first two books in the series, Enchanting Baby by Darlene Graham in September 2003 and Sanctuary by Brenda Novak, October 2003. If this story is anything to go by, the people of Enchantment, New Mexico are in for a lot of love and happiness.
