How far would you go to ensure that someone you loved and cared about was given a special gift at Christmas time?  Well Kimberly Franklin wanted her Uncle Pierce to have a special woman in his life and decided to hack into the school computer system to find out a little something about her assistant principle, Ms. Patricia Burke.  She likes that Ms. Burke is always so sharp and happy and believes that her Uncle Pierce needs to learn how to be just as happy and stop spending time with brainless women.

Patricia Burke is the acting assistant principal at the Ida B. Wells Academy where she attended when she was younger.  While the memories of attending this school were not her happiest, there was one particular person that she always admired from afar, Pierce Franklin.  When she is given the opportunity to meet him again after several years, she can still feel the attraction that existed for her in her youth.  However this time she is meeting him as an adult concerned about the failing grades of his niece and her being on the school campus after hours.  Confronting Pierce concerning his relationship with his niece does not make either one of them feel comfortable, yet there’s more to it than just the unpleasant subject of Kimberly’s latest acts.

Pierce Franklin is a busy man, running his software company and providing for his thirteen-year-old niece.  The last thing he wants to do is to attend a meeting with the assistant principal and be told that he isn’t spending enough time with his niece.  But, he does have to admit that when she makes comments concerning Kimberly, he really doesn’t know how she’s been spending her time.  To make matters worse, he seems to have a thing for Patricia Burke after seeing her only one time and that is not like him.  Yet, trying to stay away from her after she moves into the same apartment building he resides in allows them time to get to know each other.

Patricia knows that getting involved with a parent of one of the students in her school is not proper, but it’s difficult for her to ignore the feelings that travel through her body every time she sees Pierce.  Believing that she can have just a sample for what she has waited so long, only leaves her wanting more.  And, her best friend doesn’t help when she encourages her to continue what she has started despite the fact that her mind tells her it should stop.  As she struggles with her feelings for Pierce, she is also faced with an arrogant man hired to check into the thefts occurring at the school.  Vincent Shields has an imagination that leads to him believing that Patricia has a thing for him, although she has made it clear that she can’t stand the man.  Trying to make the best of a bad situation is very uncomfortable for Patricia, as she is forced to work with a man she hates and tries to avoid the man she loves.

Kimberly, being the smart person that she is, finds herself getting in deeper trouble as she works harder to get Patricia Burke and her Uncle Pierce together.  One night, she sees someone she thinks is stealing from the school and doesn’t know what to do, but eventually she confides in her uncle and he talks to Patricia about the situation.  In addition, Pierce suspects that Patricia is out to accuse his niece of the crimes at the school because of an old grudge against his brother.  As they struggle through trying to mend their differences, the real thief is identified and they find out that they share a love that will last forever.

Ms. Norfleet has written a story about a woman, Patricia, who gets the opportunity to fulfill a love interest that she never thought would happen.  And love teaches Pierce that you can have love and a career at the same time without sacrificing anything.  You will enjoy this special story of love and new beginnings.
