William (Liam) Armstrong is frantic to find his
seventeen-year-old daughter Emily missing. While he was away on
a business trip, Emily was snatched from their home. Liam has
reported the disappearance to the Dallas Police Department, but
he is not expecting much help from them, years ago he was
implicated in the disappearance of a state senator's daughter
but never charged with anything. Dallas PD believed he got away
with murder, and they continue to use every opportunity to
harass him and given the circumstances there is no way the
police is likely to go all out in investigating Emily's
disappearance.
Maybe the department is not interested, but Detective Jessica
Clark is. Jessica is familiar with the rumors that surround Liam
Armstrong, but the look in his eyes and his demeanor when he
discusses his daughter is a clear indication that whatever else
he may have done, he truly loves her. Ignoring the support she's
not receiving from her partner, Jessica works tirelessly to find
Emily, putting her own life at risk in the process. Her efforts
allow her to draw closer to Liam and she succeeds in
infiltrating his hard exterior, the ultimate no-no in her
profession. Jessica and Liam become emotionally and sexually
involved, jeopardizing her career and his chances of getting his
daughter back alive.
WHEN NIGHT FALLS is romance and suspense at its best. The
mystery surrounding Emily's disappearance is intricately
plotted, and the romance between Jessica and Liam burns the
pages. Author Jenna Mills has a flair for creating strong female
heroines that handle role reversal very well. What's even more
refreshing is that the heroes accept their fate with enthusiasm
and a great deal of maturity. WHEN NIGHT FALLS is a summer read
not to be missed! |
