Before a tragic accident claimed the lives of his wife and son, Jordan Baird was a happily married, successful and admired college professor. Grieving and bitter towards God, Jordan withdrew from his old life and from society, to a secluded lakeside home where he can build kites and shake his fist at the heavens. One day, while flying one of his creations, Jordan's private space is encroached by a curious little boy and his mom who are renting a cabin nearby.

Meara Hayden is a recently widowed single mother to a son, Mac, who was born with Down Syndrome. Meara loves Mac with all of her heart and recognizes him as the Lord's blessing, but despite her strong faith she still feels extremely bitter towards her husband's family for their rejection of Mac. Now out on her own, Meara is fiercely determined to shield her son from experiencing any more hurt, whatever the source. Could this desire to protect Mac backfire instead?

Be sure and keep a box of tissues close at hand when you pick up THE CHRISTMAS KITE! Ms. Martin's fluid narrative and captivating characters will keep readers enthralled through every joy and sorrow until the very last word. The author's attention to detail with respect to Down Syndrome families further enhances the overall enjoyment.

Reading THE CHRISTMAS KITE became so much a part of me that I really didn't want the story to end. I was truly touched by the message of forgiveness and faith. The romance is sweet, gentle and believable-it would make an excellent choice for even the youngest of romance readers. However, I would not limit my recommendation to just romance fans. THE CHRISTMAS KITE has something to offer any reader and is sure to become a holiday classic!
