Chloe Rose has had two passions all of her life-  Issues Magazine and shoes.  So when her golden opportunity to interview for a job at Issues arrives,  she goes for it with all she has.  Sort of.  She wears winter white (well, really cream) while all the other applicants are dressed fashionably hip.  She fudges her resume with job experiences she never had.  And she’s not even sure which position she’s applying for.   But, fate is on her side and she becomes the newest assistant to the assistant!

She is now thrown into the world of high fashion, literary prose and heartless backstabbing she never knew existed in the world of publishing.  With her heartfelt but inept job performance, it doesn’t take long for her to catch the eye of Dan Princely, the editor.  The only problem - she doesn’t know he’s the editor.  They begin seeing each other as she shares her creativity, dreams and hopes with him (along with “borrowing” shoes from the company’s fashion closet).  But jealousies among her coworkers abound and threatens to destroy all she’s worked for.  And what will happen when she finds out Stan, the man she’s fallen for, is really Issues editor in chief?  You know what they say, be careful what you wish for, you just might get it!

She’s Got Issues is a funny, original novel about the dirty dealings behind the scenes in business.  Now imagine  throwing an artsy, flighty, scatterbrained yet resourceful young woman into the mix and issues abound!  I love Chloe Rose, whose freshness and vulnerability can be felt from page one.  She’s unflinchingly honest and incredibly naïve, thereby creating havoc without even realizing it.  To help her through life’s rough patches is her eternal cheerleader and protector, Zoe, her older sister, who is outspoken, aggressive and loving to a fault.  First time author, Stephanie Lessing writes with a distinctive narrative style which I found difficult to follow but her humor shines through, breathing verve and spirit into the plot and her highly endearing characters.  If you have a thing for shoes, you’ll love She’s Got Issues!
