Kathryn Jensen’s HOT PURSUIT will satisfy readers in search of an intense, face-paced suspense novel. Kate Foster is a highly intelligent NASA scientist in charge of an exciting research project that may provide an alternative energy source. Her team’s primary research tool is a powerful space satellite called Heat Wave. When a terrorist group enters her secured laboratory and demands the codes necessary to take control over the satellite, Kate complies in order to save the members of her team. Hoping to maintain some control over the satellite, she imbeds a firewall into the computer codes that she is forced to save to a memory stick. 

Daniel Rooker, counterterrorist expert, is ready to retrieve the memory stick and regain control over the satellite for the U.S. government. He and Kate are immediately at odds because Kate wants to be actively involved in the retrieval of the memory stick. The terrorists have demanded a huge amount of money and threatened to use Heat Wave as a weapon; Kate may be the only person capable of changing the computer commands sent to Heat Wave. Rooker and Kate engage in a battle of wills that persists throughout the novel, and the antagonism/attraction between the two continues to build when Kate is injured in more than one fray. Ultimately, both characters must come to terms with their pasts and the desire they feel towards each others as they engage in a race to save lives.

HOT PURSUIT is highly appealing. The characters are well-developed and their histories clearly shape their behaviors. While based on science, the author does a good job blending science with reality so that the reader does not struggle with the scientific and technical details. Further, Ms. Jensen has created a novel that is both realistic and believable. The high-paced action keeps the reader engaged all the way to the last page. HOT PURSUIT will satisfy your need for suspense!
