| Ryan Donnelly is dreaming of
the day she can quit her day job as a corporate trainer and
write romance novels full-time.
In order to make this a reality, she needs to write a
scorching love scene for her latest book.
However, if she doesn't get over a bad case of
"Writer's Block", she'll never move up from writing
"sweets" to more lucrative deals.
At the urging of her agent, Helene, Ryan agrees to see a
gigolo to provide a little inspiration.
Cade Douglas doesn't figure out at first
that the gorgeous woman inviting him up to her hotel room has
mistaken him for a gigolo.
Even when he does put two and two together, he goes along
with the deception and both Cade and Ryan experience something
neither has had in a long time, if ever.
Cade is torn between the truth and spoiling the chance at
a great affair. However,
it doesn't take long for the truth to come out, and when it does
Ryan is furious and sets up a little trap to take revenge on
Cade. Her plan
works well, and although she can not stop thinking about him,
Ryan is confident and relieved that she will never see Cade
again.
Could Ryan ever have imagined that she
would end up working with the very man she's trying so
desperately to forget?
MY SEXIEST MISTAKE is the sizzling debut
from author Kristin Hardy.
Ms. Hardy combines humor and romance with realistic
situations into a refreshing contribution to Harlequin's Blaze
line. While the
prose began to take on a purplish tint during key love scenes,
this was easily overlooked when weighed against the strength of
the characters, their interaction and the pure entertainment
factor of the story as a whole.
With respect to the cover art, I believe
that Harlequin should have paid more attention to matching the
models with the physical description given in the story. Our
heroine does NOT have bleached blonde hair.
A minor point, yes, but something that seems to be
happening with more frequency in the Harlequin lines.
Fortunately for readers, MY SEXIEST MISTAKE
is one Blaze book that does not leave with you with the feeling
that you've "read this one before".
So grab a glass of Pinot Grigio, settle into a comfy
chair, crank up the AC and get ready for one HOT read! |
