AN OUTLAW FOR CHRISTMAS is the
story of Ruth Kelly and Noah Walker, two orphans that meet on an
orphan train heading for Kansas.
They are both alone in the world, trusting, loving or being
loved by no one, and both looking for a place to call home. To Ruth, Noah becomes her protector, her hero.
To Noah, Ruth becomes the only person in the world that has
ever loved him. As
the train arrives at its destination, Ruth makes a vow to meet
Noah at the train depot one year from that day, Christmas Eve
1868.
Ten years later, Ruth arrives
at the train depot, as she has done each year previously, only to
be disappointed again. Each
year she waits, searching the festive crowds for that familiar
face she has dreamed of so many times, and each year she leaves
alone, never seeing or hearing of the man she has longed for since
childhood. Finally,
defeated, Ruth vows never to return and to finally marry the only
man that has asked for her hand in marriage, the town sheriff.
As she begins her journey home, a wounded man emerges from
the alley and calls her name-- Noah has finally returned to her.
Ruth remembers the boy whom
protected her, only to be faced with the man he has become.
A man hardened by life as an orphan, harboring many
secrets, and an outlaw of the west, an outlaw that the town
sheriff has vowed to bring to justice.
Noah sees Ruth as the woman
she has become, a fine lady.
Being adopted by the town’s founder has given Ruth the
place in society she deserves, a lady too fine to be within reach
of an outlaw like him. Little
does Noah know, the only place Ruth has ever felt peace was within
his arms.
Ruth and Noah both came from
the same place. Both were lonely and lost inside. Only together do they have a chance of finally finding a
place to call home.
AN OUTLAW FOR CHRISTMAS is a
heartwarming story of the true meaning of Christmas.
It is a story of the need for love and acceptance, and the
longing a person can have for both of those.
A story fueled by the miracles only Christmas Eve can
deliver.
Lori
Handeland has a way with words that pulls the reader right into
the story. This
reader, for one, could not put this book down.
AN OUTLAW FOR CHRISTMAS will find its rightful spot on my
"keeper shelf". I
look forward to reading more by this author.
