To circumvent her sister and her mother's attempts at matchmaking,
Catherine Carson comes up with a wonderful idea-she gets a 1-800 line to find a
man to marry for six months. At the end of the six months she plans to get a
divorce and live her life the way she wants. She never counted on her
childhood nemesis recognizing her voice although he was the one who
taught her how to change voices.
Jarrod Greene has just returned to the United States after five years. His curiosity had him calling the 1-800 number. He's astonished to hear
Catherine's voice on the other end and the moment he sees her, his plans
for teasing soon have him offering to help. Jarrod valued his unusual
friendship with Catherine and marriage to her will be no hardship.
Catherine accepts Jarrod's proposal to marry her for the six months, but
after the burning kiss he gives her to convince everyone that they are
in love, she insist that the marriage will be in name only. Jarrod agrees
but is sure he'll be able to change her mind.
While the marriage of convenience theme takes on the originality of Ms.
Hailstock's brand of humor, the heroine antics are childish and silly.
What saves this story is the wonderfully sexy hero and the simmering
chemistry between him and the heroine. Fine writing and a delightful premise kept
me reading despite the problems with the heroine.
