The eagerly anticipated second book in Melanie George's trilogy of the Sinclair brothers, HANDSOME DEVIL, finally becomes available in July; and it is well worth the wait. Nicholas' story is filled with fun, laughter, heart tugging scenes, and is a bit steamier than its predecessor, DEVIL MAY CARE.
From the first moment Nicholas Sinclair saw her dancing on the deck of the ship, he knew he had to have her, and have her he did. His poor, drunken attempt at rescuing her from the clutches of an attacker wins him a night of her company. Though his besotted brain doesn't remember all the details, he does remember the glorious night of lovemaking they shared. However, he is unprepared for the same willful, quick tempered lass to be the very friend his cousin is having stay with her in his house. The passion he feels for her flares to life, and even though his body is constantly wracked with bruises and itchy blotches from her little tirades, he knows this is one Irish woman he wishes to tame. But Nicholas must first let go of the wounds from his past if he is to have a future with Sheridan.
Sheridan Delaney finally wins her plea to go and visit her dear friend, Jules Sinclair Thornton, in England. Growing up Irish has not been easy for "Danny", but she is not one to back down from a challenge. When she sees the handsome man valiantly trying to rescue her, she takes care of the matter herself after her would-be drunken savior is pummeled by the hefty attacker. Sheridan knows instantly that this man is her future, that their lives are entwined, so she feels no remorse at giving in to her new found love for him.
She is thoroughly mortified, though, seeing him again. This time he is bailing her and her crazy uncle out of jail, and rescuing her fainting aunt from her "dying" spells. Living under the same roof does have its effects on Sheridan. She can't deny her love and passion for Nicholas, but will it be enough to win his heart away from his intentions to marry another?
HANDSOME DEVIL is truly delightful. With an array of fanciful characters, from the crazy uncle who was kicked in the head by a mule, the colorful parrot whose vocabulary consists of four letter words, the mostly deaf butler, to the endearing Ho-Sing - the oriental manservant who sees things more clearly than his boss-man and tells him so. Ms. George has created a livelier and lighter read in Nicholas' story, but even as it entertains, it touches your heart. The romance between Nicholas and Sheridan is breath-taking, the passion is sizzling and the story enthralling. I'm looking forward to the final in the trilogy, Gray's story, due in November. Don't miss HANDSOME DEVIL when it hits the stands because it will surely go fast.
