Once in a while a book comes along that impresses the reader so much, that it
stands alone, in a class by itself. Melanie George writes with such
noteworthy style that one would be remiss if they did not experience one of
her books. DEVIL MAY CARE is a supreme example of intelligent writing in
today's romance world. With memorable characters, wonderful repartee and
sensual tension, this reviewer feels that George will surely have a devoted following after this, if she doesn't already.
There are so many wonderful things about DEVIL MAY CARE, it is hard to know
where to begin. Eden Spencer and Damien Sinclair, the heroine and hero are,
the good and the bad, the angel and the devil, even their names connotes the
premise of the book. Lady Eden has wanted to be a nun, but first, her Mother
Superior forces her to go out into the world to view life from the other
side. How can one know what good is if one doesn't know what bad is? And
being bad is what Damien Sinclair, the Earl of Blackstone does best. So,
Eden propositions Damien to show her the wickedness of London. What Eden
doesn't count on is her own deep attraction to the Earl.
Damien, the oldest of three brothers, has been bad for so long, he can't
remember living any other way. A man so tormented by his past, who feels he
is beyond salvation, finds that the beautiful Eden, who thinks he's just
"misguided", feels he is worth saving. Soon he begins to believe in Eden
and the goodness she represents. But can a notorious rake find the salvation
and love that has eluded him all his life?
Readers will find themselves laughing over the witty dialogue of Eden's
cousin, Reggie who acts as a mediator and antagonist between everyone in this
story. Everything in DEVIL MAY CARE plays off of good and evil, right and
wrong, beauty and ugliness, from life to people. Melanie George has
extraordinary talent that will leave the readers begging for more, which she
will provide with the second book in the trilogy, HANDSOME DEVIL. Run, don't
walk, to the bookstore and buy DEVIL MAY CARE today. I can't
say enough good things about this writer and this book, you must read it for yourselves. |
