Carolina Viviana Colagrossi Hardin is
physically healing, but emotionally she’s a wreck. After
her daughter and husband are brutally murdered and she is
seriously injured, she really doesn’t want to go on. How
do you live when your life is gone?
For the first few weeks after she leaves
the hospital, she’s just barely living, and she’s doesn’t
want to talk to her friends about it. She knows she’s going to
have to leave; she knows that she has to hide and protect
her friends even before the detective talks to her about it. She
has to let go of all ties to those she loves before the man
responsible for the death of her family tries to take them,
too. She isn’t sure if she can trust Gregory Hudson, but for
some reason she feels safe with him. So with his help, Carolina
is gone and Cara is born. Greg makes sure she knows how to
defend and protect herself and helps her learn how to disappear,
at least until the cops catch the killer.
After 3 years of traveling the country,
changing her last name, helping people and in general pretending
to live, Cara decides it’s time to stop running. She is tired
and wants to have a real life with friends and roots. It’s
with this in mind that she settles in Marion, Illinois. Cara
meets Rose the first day and soon has a small house to rent and
a true friend.
Detective Nick Travelli isn’t sure,
but something isn’t quite right with the newest resident of
Marion, Cara Jones. Upon their first meeting, each is attracted
to the other. While Nick is drawn to all of Cara, Cara is
only impressed with Nick’s eyes. Of course Nick does smell and
look rather rought, at that first meeting, having been on
garbage duty. Cara
knows she has to be careful; she won’t put anyone else at
risk. As the attraction between these two grows, the danger
keeps getting closer. Can Cara trust Nick? And can
Nick protect those whose are most important to him?
YOU’VE GOT ANOTHER THING COMIN’ is a
great book. The heroine, Cara/Carolina, is wonderful. She is
strong, smart, and completely able to take care of
herself. She kicks butt and takes names. The hero, Nick,
is strong without being overpowering, and isn’t scared of a
woman who can take care of herself. He’s the perfect
hero: Tall, handsome, and well built. Who could ask for
more? Ms. Cotton has written a sensuous story with just
the right amount of suspense to keep you guessing. The
secondary characters are wonderful and help add character to the
story. I hated to see it end. I will certainly be
waiting for more of Ms. Cotton’s work and hope to see these
characters again in the future.
