Mystery
Marla Shore is shocked when a dead body is found in her neighbor, Goat's, house, but she knows he couldn't have done it. Although Marla is a hairstylist by trade, she has assisted the police on other cases in the past and sees no reason why she shouldn't look into this case as well. What she doesn't count on are the deaths of hairstylists or the friction between her and Detective Dalton Vail.
Detective Vail is determined to keep Marla out of this case, or to at least keep her safe. When things start to hit a little too close to home can he do that? Who is behind all the deaths and are they connected in some way?
With a new mystery to solve and her relationship with Detective Vail to figure out Marla has her hands full, but is it more than she can handle?
This is the first story in the Bad Hair Day Mysteries that I've read, but certainly won't be the last. While this is part of series you don't feel thrown in the middle of it, so it does great as a stand-alone story. Ms. Cohen's characters are fun and lively and the action is non-stop. This story not only has the hairstyling aspect but also pulls in details of life in Florida and the illegal trade in dog and cat furs. If you want a good mystery with fun elements and rich characters then this is one you shouldn't miss. It's a quick, fun read that would certainly lift your spirits this holiday season.
