Stephanie
Monroe was on the verge of achieving her dream. Unfortunately,
she has to make a quick trip to the middle of nowhere and drag
her business partner back to Los Angeles. The instant she hits
town, bad things begin to happen to her. First, she is swept
away by a overflowing creek and lucky for her, the hunky sheriff
is coming to the rescue.
As
the sheriff of Mayfield, Jack Logan has been living the job
since the first day he was elected. Granted, several citizens
remind him constantly that he is in office only because of who
he is, not for any other reason. He is determined to prove them
wrong and that he can be a good leader. When the wickedly, wild
Stephanie shows up in town, his plans suddenly seem very
constricting, along with several other things, like his heart.
She brings out the beast in him.
Everyone
expects wild things from Venus Gold, the local wild child.
Stephanie is used to her behavior, as they are partners and
friends, and in order to get her back to LA, she opts to help
Venus in her mischievous deeds. This lands her in trouble time
and time again. It also lands her in the path of that sexily
irresistible lawman.
To
say these two have chemistry is a serious understatement. From
the moment they meet until the very last page, they are setting
off enough sparks to cause some serious damage. Jack's fantasy
of her, shortly after he meets her, is my favorite scene in the
whole book. This man has it bad, he just has to figure a way to
get her to stay. Stephanie has a serious aversion to small towns
and even though she falls in love with Jack, she is bound and
determined not to be a small town girl. Lucky for them both,
they realize there are more important things to life than their
preconceived notions allow.
This
is one hot and steamy love story. Even with all the misbehavior
and stern citizens, these two manage to smoke up the pages. Ms.
Carr does a fantastic job with sexual chemistry and the build up
that leads to the actual deed. Be sure not to miss out on this
one, after all, being wicked and being in love can fall hand in
hand. This is a keeper, definitely.
