NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN is the concluding novel in Tori Carrington's series "The Magnificent McCoy Men." U.S. Marshall Connor, the oldest of the McCoy
brothers, is uncomfortable with his younger brothers' decisions to marry and begin raising families. Connor raised his brothers after their mother's
death and is reluctant to let anyone too close to his heart.
Bronte O'Brien is a promising junior attorney in the Washington, D.C. U.S. Attorney's office. Unfortunately, her love life has been much less
promising than her career of late. Somehow she had missed the fact that her boyfriend was already married. So when she runs into her former college classmate,
Connor McCoy, at the wedding of Connor's brother, David, and Bronte's best friend, Kelli, she is reluctant to acknowledge the sparks of attraction that
are set off whenever they get near each other.
When Connor is accused of killing a witness under his protection, all of Bronte's protective instincts leap into overdrive. Connor is willing to let
her into his bed, but he struggles with the idea of love and the sexy U.S. attorney. The two work hard to overcome the barriers to their burgeoning
romance while also proving Connor's innocence.
I was uncomfortable with the concept that a U.S. Attorney would aid and abet a suspect, regardless of her belief in his innocence. Bronte's continued
knowledge of Connor's location and her assistance in providing him shelter and clothing, while there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest, proved
discordant and pulled me out of the novel. That issue not withstanding, Carrington has crafted a passionate romance between two complex and dynamic
characters that will leave readers saddened to realize this is the final book in the McCoy series. |
