This
story begins after Jesus has been nailed to the Cross and
executed. To distract herself from what she has seen and
to keep her emotions contained, Mary sits and reflects back on
her life before and after she gave birth to the Son of God.
She remembers how the Angel came to her in her garden and
told her she was chosen to be the mother of the Son of God.
She recalls how her mother refused to believe what she told her,
and how it came to be that her betrothed Joseph finally came to
realize they are chosen to be the earthly parents of Jesus.
As time goes by and Mary’s time grows near they make their way
to Bethlehem, only to find that there are no rooms available so
Joseph finds stable were Mary gives birth to the Messiah the Son
of God. When they are planning to return home to Nazareth, they hear news that their king has heard of the
birth of the Messiah and he is having all baby boys killed.
So they leave for Egypt to protect the life of their son, Jesus is already weaned by the
time they are finally able to make it home.
Many
years go by as Mary watches her son grow, occasionally
forgetting that he is very special and not really like her other
children. Mary reflects back on how she had to separate
her feelings as a mother to her son, to just being someone
listening to the preaching of her Messiah and believing in Him
and His word. Through out this book you will read of Mary thoughts
back to the past and how she spends the three days after the
death of Jesus waiting to hear the news that He has risen.
Ms.
Carlson gives us an amazing fiction story about the life of Mary
after the death of Jesus. In the beginning of the
book, Ms. Carlson writes us a little note about how she came to
want to write this story. She does stress that this is
fiction and is based on her own imagination. As a
reviewer, I must say this was a remarkable story and I truly
enjoyed reading this book. |
