Inspirational Romantic Suspense

Lt. Zack Brewer is good at what he does. He’s a top prosecutor, with a flare for winning cases, even if he’s only been out of law school for 3 years. He’s a man who believes in doing what’s right and following the faith he learned as a child, even if he does feel a distance in his heart. Now as he struggles with his unease over the innocence of a Navy SEAL charged with assault, he knows he has to do his best to bring the man to justice. Even as he fights his feelings for the defense council, Diane Colcernian, he knows the final decision is up to the court.

Diane Colcernian at first isn’t sure if her client is guilty or not, but soon feels he’s innocent of the charge of rape. She’s determined to prove it and to win against her rival since law school, Zack. She’s got a lot to prove and a promise to keep.

As both Zack and Diane struggle with their case, a series of events within the naval community point towards terrorist working in the US military itself. A church is bombed, the Israeli Ambassador is shot on America soil, and a Navy jet fighter is sabotaged. All three incidents are committed by military personal of the Muslim faith. At the heart of these events however are three Islamic chaplains who taught the three assailants. When evidence is found connecting the imams to the crimes, charges of murder and treason are leveled on all three.

Events and orders from the highest authority in the military put Lt. Zack Brewer at the head of the team prosecuting the three Islamic Chaplains. When the three hire the greatest defense attorney in the world, Wells Levinson, tensions run high and Diane is added to the prosecution team. Now Zack must deal with the strain between them as well as his romantic feelings. With outside interests pulling Zack in another direction can they win a case against a defense attorney who’s never lost?

As pressures put strain on Zack’s faith and confidence, he has decisions to make that could change the course of the case and his life. With the world watching will Zack and Diane win a case against terrorism? In a case being called David vs. Goliath, will Goliath win this time? Can Diane and Zack find a way to work together and maybe go further?

TREASON is a rare treat! It’s got suspense, inspiration, and a touch of romance all thrown together. Fans of the TV show, JAG, will certainly enjoy this look inside the Judge Advocate General Corps. The characters are well written and defined enough to make them feel like friends. This is the beginning of a new series by debut author, Don Brown called the Navy Justice Series, and what a start it is. I can’t wait to see what’s next for these two dynamic characters. The inspirational aspects are well done and woven in without flaw. Those who are reluctant to read Inspirationals will find TREASON a book they shouldn’t overlook. The military aspects are seamlessly mixed with suspense, inspiration, romance and the law. The plot itself is not only bone chilling but also fascinating and fresh. Mr. Brown is an author on the rise and a true asset to the genre!
