If you had to choose between loyalty to state and country or loyalty to those you loved, which would you choose?  Do the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or even the one?  That is the choice Lt. Zack Brewer is facing in this next gripping chapter of the Navy Justice Series.  All eyes are watching JAG Officer Zack Brewer and his co-counsel Diane Colcernian as they are honored by the President for their stunning victory in bringing three terrorists to justice.  Both of them would like nothing more than to step out of the spotlight but constant death threats seem to make that impossible.  The intense feelings growing between them makes it hard for them to part but Zack’s attendance at the execution of the terrorists is mandatory, while Diane needs a few days to find some peace.  Then just as Zack is handed a promotion, his worst fears come to light, Diane is kidnapped.

The terror doesn’t end there.  A savage act of violence against innocent civilians is committed by what appears to be naval officers and Zack is assigned to prosecute yet another high profile case.  However, the outcome of this trial is much more than a mere verdict of guilty or not guilty.  Lying in Zack Brewer’s hands is the future of the love of his life and the fate of the world.  It’s the case of a lifetime and one his life depends on.  Can he trust in God and himself enough to come face to face with his fears in order to get the job done?

Those who loved the first book in the Navy Justice Series, TREASON,  will definitely not be disappointed with this next installment.  Kicking the action and suspense up a few notches, author Don Brown continues the trials and tribulations of his charismatic leading man, Zack Brewer.  The love Zack and Diane share is tender and poignant and in stark contrast with the horror surrounding them, shifting the tension even higher.  Having over five years of experience as an officer in the Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps., Mr. Brown is meticulous in the imagery and details of the inner and outer workings of the military.  With the threat of terrorism being the focal point around the world currently, HOSTAGE is terrifyingly realistic, interwoven with strong threads of morality and inspiration.  I, for one, can’t wait to see what’s next for this talented author and the dynamic Zack Brewer!
