Triss Allardyce must cope with the terms of her late husband's will regarding the administration of Kurakaha House, an educational facility in New Zealand for disadvantaged young men. The terms of the will state that Triss must co-jointly administer Kurakaha House with Steve Stevens, a former resident of Kurakaha House and now successful businessman.  Relations between them are strained--Triss believes that Steve had never approved of the marriage between his idol and the much younger Triss.  Yet Triss and Steve are determined to adhere to the terms of Magnus Allardyce's will despite their long-held animosity and the sexual attraction engulfing them.
