| In
the sequel to BLESSED CHILD, Bright and Dekker take us on a
journey to find the Ark of the Covenant.
Told from two different sides, this story is filled with
religious history, romance and faith.
When
word gets out to the Zionists that the Ark is in Ethiopia, Ben
Solomon is eager to have it, for it will undoubtedly reunite the
Jews in Israel and restore her.
The key to finding the Ark is a Christian monk named
Caleb. So, Rebecca
Solomon, an Israeli soldier, has been sent to find Caleb.
Fleeing his home, Caleb embarks on a journey across the
desert to find Father Hadane.
He wants to rediscover the simple faith he knew in his
childhood. Rebecca
catches up with him, and at first she thinks he's wacko, talking
to the sky, talking about falling into the ocean.
She can't comprehend what these Christians see in the
Nazarene who died on the cross.
Slowly, Rebecca finds herself listening to Caleb,
embracing his enthusiasm of his belief.
His nearness and his words give solace to her wounded
soul.
When
the Ark is found in the monastery, Rebecca is betrayed by her
own men. Only when
Caleb is wounded and she doesn't know whether he is alive or
dead does she begin to discover the power of simple faith and
her love for Caleb. On
the last leg of the journey the Ark is brought out into the
world, and Caleb shows that the presence of God isn't in the
Ark, but in our hearts.
I
found most of this story intriguing, eager to see where it would
lead. Also, I admit
I have a certain fascination with the Ark of the Covenant
because there is no record in the scriptures about what ever
happened to the Ark. It
could still be out there. However,
that aside, this is a story about faith and love.
Caleb's faith, refound and renewed, is the main focus
other than the search for the Ark.
The ending surprised me a little, but considering the
main point of the story, I understand it.
I found it highly interesting and a great inspiration.
