Judith Kingston is perhaps the most revered and beloved woman in Carson City, Nevada. Together with her husband the judge, Hollis Kingston, she makes every effort to help all who seek her assistance, from harlots to the socially prominent. Because of this, she finds herself in the middle of a mystery when a known wife beater is found dead, and there are too many suspects. Even as she solves the mystery, Judith deals with other crises, including facing unjust charges against herself, and finds time to minister to the broken hearted.

This is a very sweet read, sure to please grown fans of the LITTLE HOUSE series of books. Judith is a spunky, powerful heroine who manages to both rule and submit at the same time. The Blys deliver a heartwarming story that avoids being preachy, enabling it to be appealing to both Christian and non-Christian readers.
