| For the Bowers family, their
new homestead in Nebraska is the beginning of their lifelong
dream to settle down in one place for good.
However, the old Avery place is not all that they
imagined, in fact it is a flooded mess.
Determined to be positive, they face all of the adversity
that God hands them with courage and tenacity.
They will not stop until this new land is their home.
The townspeople are not sure what to make
of these newcomers. Matthew
and Lissa give their children plenty of freedom, but it is Lissa
that captures the town’s attention when she purchases two out-of-control horses that for some odd reason obey her every
command. Toss in
their headstrong daughter, Jolie, who single-handedly breaks up
a fight between a local drifter and a store clerk, and then
attempts to save the life of an injured man with the doctoring
skills she has learned. The
townspeople are not convinced this family will stay once they
see their new home, but they hope they will.
Seventeen-year-old Jolie is ready to settle
down and maybe start dreaming of finding a suitable husband.
There are plenty of men who desire her, but she has her
eyes set on only one man. Now
if she could just get his attention.
Busy helping her parents by caring for the house and her
siblings, Jolie has little time for her own dreams.
If they can make it in Nebraska, will she finally find
time for herself?
STRANGERS & PILGRIMS starts off the new
“Homestead” series by Mr. Bly.
The easy flow of the dialogue, realistic characters and
the setting all come together seamlessly for an entertaining
tale. This engaging
story sets the ground for the next book, but many of the
conflicts are unresolved by the end of this story.
Readers will wait anxiously for the next in the series in
order to find out if the Bowers have the strength to succeed. |
