Carley Reed has created a tidy life out of the ashes of her past.  She has endured a childhood filled with heartbreak and abuse but lives modestly working as a teacher in San Francisco.  Life as Carley knows it will be changed yet again by a private investigation bearing information of an inheritance across the country in Tallulah, Mississippi from a grandmother she scarcely remembers.  Her intention is to visit Tallulah, sell the house and take her assets back to San Francisco.  However, once she sets foot in the charming southern town, Carley finds herself wanting to stay and put down roots.  She soon opens a bistro and with the possibility of a new romance, Carley enjoys her new life. Then a tragedy will hit a little too close to home and Carley will need to be strong in her faith and keep her wits about her to remain one step ahead of the danger.

A TABLE BY THE WINDOW is contemporary Christian storytelling at its best!  I first became acquainted with this author though Ms. Blackwell's Tales of London series.  The elegance of the narrative, compelling storylines and realism of the characters are all elements I admired.  The fact that faith is effortlessly interwoven into the story is also appreciated by this reader.  Thankfully, these factors are also present in A TABLE BY THE WINDOW.  Carley is a smart and likeable heroine, the settings are vibrant and the supporting characters are all equally rendered with care.  As A TABLE BY THE WINDOW has found its place on this reader's keeper shelf, I would not hesitate to pick up any of this author's work as all I have read so far has been exceedingly enjoyable!  Highly recommended!
