Sharon does not want to help her ex husband and his family when
they are evicted and hungry, but consents to help them by paying
for a hotel and food as a lesser evil than taking them into her
home when her oldest daughter begs her to. That is only the
beginning. Shortly thereafter, the ex husband, Ben is accused of
murdering his former landlord, and there are no other suspects.
Bond is posted by the dead man's best friend, and Ben is able
to get out. Now, his new family and old are sharing quarters, and
the true killer is stalking them. He wants something that Ben can
provide, but what? Before they can figure it out, the two of his
daughters are kidnapped. Now, it is a race against time as the
three parents and the police try to solve the mystery and save the
girls. Even after the killer is found, the girls are still
missing, and with no one to care for them, their life expectancy
is low. Prayer is all they have to sustain them as the
search continues, though until now, Ben and his new wife have had
little, if any faith. Nor has the lead officer on the case, but he
is learning, and he is falling for Sharon. Is a good
ending possible for this nightmare?
The most suspenseful of the three books so far in the series, I
would have enjoyed it more had there been a stronger romantic
element. The message of faith, though still there, is not as
strong as in the previous book. Still, it is a very solid book,
fast moving and involved.
