Eight
months after being abandoned by her fiancé, Clint Jessup, Sherry
Grayson, Wes' sister from NEVER AGAIN GOODBYE, finds herself face
to face with him again. Still angry and feeling betrayed, she
refuses to listen to him, until her roommate, Madeline, interrupts
their meeting with the mail. There is a note that threatens
revenge on those for whom Clint cares most. He sees no other
choice but to force the two women to go with him and his friend,
Sam, to safety.
Confused,
the two women try to escape unsuccessfully. Then, Clint explains
that he had to leave because of being in the Witness Protection
program. He had seen a murder, and was now the key to putting away
a drug lord. When he returned to testify, he wanted to salvage
their relationship, but now they had to run for their lives.
If they escape, will the two have a chance to rekindle what
was lost to misunderstanding and mistrust?
High
levels of danger keep the plot moving rapidly. It is good to see
Christians portrayed as having problems with forgiveness; too
often they are seen as easily being able to grant it, no matter
how difficult, and only non-believers having to struggle to
forgive. That is just not the way of it, as Ms. Blackstock shows.
The tension is maintained right up to the end, making for a
fast read.
