Inspirational Suspense
What would you do if the world you knew suddenly stopped functioning? Planes began falling out of the sky, cars stopped running, lights are out everywhere, your cell phone is dead, and your house phone doesn’t work, nothing that you’ve come to depend on works anymore. You can’t communicate with anyone outside your community. You have no idea how far this, whatever it is, reaches or how long it will last. The only way to travel is by foot, on a bike, or a horse. All the supplies in the stores are quickly taken and you have to rely on what you have on hand in your home. Where would you turn? Would you share what you have, help your neighbor or would you hoard everything and defend it and your home against everyone outside your family?
Then you suddenly learn that two of your neighbors were murdered. Everyone is suddenly a suspect. Could the people who live around you really be killers? This is what the Branning family and the world now faces. Some people are forgetting to show simple kindness and fighting over the silliest things, while others are shining and giving all they can to help their neighbors and friends. Can terrorist be behind this or could it be something even bigger? As the whole high-tech world suddenly finds itself learning to live as they did before technology, can they find peace or only more terror and anger? Will they remember to turn to the one who will provide for them or will they turn away from him?
LAST LIGHT is the first book in a new series by Ms. Blackstock called the Restoration series. I found myself pulled into this story from page one, and eagerly await book two. The whole idea got me to thinking and wondering how I would react and what I would do. Ms. Blackstock has started a series that is sure to please fans of her past work. The mystery is strong and leads to many suspects. The inspirational aspects to this story are strong and play a major roll in everything that happens. There are some tough scenes to be faced with this story; however I found that only made it more real. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good inspirational suspense story with well written characters. |
