John Calvin once had a great life, a loving family, a strong faith in God, a prominent position within his church and a couple of published works, now he’s lost it all. For years now he’s questioned just how he let his life self-destruct and why. He left his wife, his kids are angry and missing him, he lost his career and questions if he really believes any of what he used to preach. He’s hoping a trip along old route 66 will help him to understand his present situation and hopefully to find peace. His first stop is an old friend who leads him to another friend and more questions. Along the way he may just find what he’s been searching for, but will it be what he expects? Can the strangers he meets bring him peace or only more struggle?
Bob Beltz’s SOMEWHERE FAST is the story of one man’s life changing journey. I found the story to be well-written and interesting however, I feel a man will get more out of the story than I did. This should not keep women from buying this book, especially if you have a man going through a mid-life crisis. SOMEWHERE FAST is an inspirational story of finding your way back to God even when you feel you don’t deserve forgiveness. It is a quick story and has a few funny moments. I found the overall story to be very compelling and enjoyable. I recommend Mr. Beltz’s latest. |
