Kit Shannon is determined to pursue her calling as a female lawyer to the best of her ability. She knows that it will be hard because in 1905 Los Angeles, mostly men control that world. Kit will do what she has to for those who need her and find a way to represent the truth.
Kit's newest case is for socialite, Celia Harcourt, determined to keep her past from wrecking her daughter's future. When Celia's case intensifies with a murder, Kit is determined to find the truth. Kit has many struggles ahead as she comes face to face with another female attorney, the District Attorney, determined to win at all cost.
Meanwhile Kit's finacee, Ted Fox, is faced with difficulties of his own and must decide how to handle them. With a high-profile case on her hands can Kit find the truth in time? Will it be what she expects?
A GREATER GLORY is the first in a series by Mr. Bell about Kit Shannon, and will certainly make you want to read the next in the series, A Higher Justice. There is just enough mystery in this novel to keep you guessing as well as three different storylines to follow. You have Kit and her struggles, Ted and his choices, and then you have the main story, the woman behind the case, Celia Harcourt. I found that while this is an inspirational and has many wonderful scenes, it is also a story of a woman trying to find her place in a new world. At the turn of the Century the country was struggling with new ideas and Kit is in the middle of it all. If you want a good fast story with enough mystery to keep you guessing then this is certainly the book for you; I know I can't wait to see more of Kit and her trials.
