While cleaning out the house, preparing to donate it to her cousin’s church, a team of workers find a key that could unlock the mystery to all that led up to her stepfather’s murder. Once it is known among the intelligence world that this key has been found, Caroline’s life is endangered. Realizing that she could be killed her stepbrother, Fletcher Shaw, contacts the Dundee Agency for a bodyguard to protect her. Fletcher has no idea that Caroline has had a secret “Protector” for years. 

Devastatingly attractive, ex-covert agent David Wolfe is currently a member of Sam Dundee’s security agency. When he is assigned to guard Caroline McGuire, he knows there is every possibility that he will be forced to reveal secrets better kept hidden. Wolfe finds himself in a continuous battle to contain his attraction to Caroline, knowing that any involvement with her can only prove devastating and disastrous for them both. 

SWEET CAROLINE’S KEEPER is Beverly Barton’s next installment in The Protector series and what a story it is! Each chapter is filled with either an intriguing and suspenseful event or a sexually intense romantic scene. There are two secondary romances in SWEET CAROLINE’S KEEPER that rival Caroline and Wolfe’s story. There are enough covert agents and spy activities to keep readers on the edge of their seats throughout the entire book, and to top it all off we get a significant peek at the next Dundee agent to receive his own story. SWEET CAROLINE’S KEEPER packs a whollop and is sure to be the reading hit of this summer. Readers with a thirst for romance that involves a tortured hero and a wounded heroine, combined with espionage and intrigue will not be disappointed in this story. I would hate to be the person to deal with Beverly Barton’s email once this book hits the store shelves! Such a wonderful story deserves no less than The Romance Readers Connection’s Gold Heart Plug rating of “five”.
