Manda Munroe has lost two fiancees through death and now a third has just experienced becoming ill as a result of poisoning. Prior to one of the deaths, a warning note was sent to the perspective groom, a note he obviously ignored. Some sicko is dictating Manda’s life by murdering the men she was romantically linked to.

In an attempt to put an end to the madness, Manda’s brother contacts an old friend, Hunter Whitelaw. Hunter is a member of the Dundee Private Security Agency, a "Protector", and fully qualified to go one on one with whoever is causing the grief in Manda’s life. There is just one small problem; Hunter and Manda have a history of sorts. Manda had a teenage crush on Hunter. She chose to act on the crush in a foolish manner causing Hunter to go out of his way to avoid contact with her.

It’s seventeen years later now and Hunter is willing to let bygones be bygones, and he’s open to any sexual games Manda wants to play. There will be plenty of opportunity too because the only way to foil any further actions on the part of the killer is for Manda and Hunter to marry. Their wedding will be formal in front of family and friends in order to force the killer’s hand. This time the killer will not be dealing with an amateur! Once the killer has been captured the marriage will be annulled and Manda and Hunter can go their separate ways.

WHITELAW’S WEDDING was a real shocker for this reviewer. I did not expect the story to be as suspenseful and as sensuously intoxicating as it turned out to be. Beverly Barton has taken a fairly straightforward story line and added enough mystery and hot sex to make this book a non-stop read.

For those of us that are followers of The Protectors series, Ms. Barton has penned another hit, providing us with a scorching romance and an absorbingly suspenseful story. Though WHITELAW’S WEDDING is definitely a stand alone, be prepared to catch a brief glimpse of some on the people you’ve met in earlier books, like Elizabeth and Reece Landry (The Outcast SIM# 614) for starters. For those of you that are first timers, I’ll make sure I’m not at the UBS when you all stampede in to pick up the back list to this series.

WHITELAW’S WEDDING also gives readers a closer look at The Protectors next hero, Dave Wolfe. We’ll get a more in-depth view of this sexy Dundee agent next month in Barton’s single title, THE PROTECTORS: SWEET CAROLINE’S KEEPER.
