Chattanooga talk show
hostess, Peggy Jo Riley is badly in need of a Protector.
She’s being harassed and stalked by someone, and each day
the threats are becoming more vicious.
Out of concern, her agent
hires the Dundee Security Agency to step in and provide
protection. Help
comes in the form of sexy agent Jack Parker but there’s just one
small problem, Jack doesn’t want the job.
He is not interested in dealing with any “man-hating
feminist”. He knows
he fits the mold of the type of man Peggy Jo warns women about on
her show. Given her
attitude about this kind of man, Jack feels she would be a hard
client to protect.
Peggy Jo has definite
issues with men due to a father that ignored her and an abusive
ex-husband. However
having Agent Parker in her life twenty-four hours a day, handsome
as sin and displaying none of the traits she’s use to from men,
is very confusing. Jack is not what she expected and his loving,
sensuous manner is playing havoc with her senses.
While Jack zeroes in on the
stalker, the relationship between he and Peggy Jo heats up.
With the Christmas holidays fast approaching, Jack wants
very much to put an end to the terror in Peggy Jo’s life. He
wants to move on to a more permanent relationship, but Peggy Jo
may not be envisioning the same happy ending that he is.
JACK’S CHRISTMAS MISSION
is Beverly Barton’s latest installment in The Protectors series.
Readers first met Jack Parker in SWEET CAROLINE’S KEEPER
and there was never a doubt that his story was going to be a good
one! His “love ‘em and leave ‘em” attitude made his character
all the more intriguing. It
is very refreshing to read about a hero that realizes fast he’s
going down for the count and succumbs with grace.
As
usual Ms. Barton has penned a sensuous love story packed with
plenty of suspense. JACK’S
CHRISTMAS MISSION has just the right amount of a holiday scenario
to warm the heart and leave the reader with a rosy glow.
Of course there continues to be the one small draw back to
the Protectors books, the stories always come to an end much too
soon. Brace yourself followers of this series, it will be sometime
in 2002 before we hear more from the Dundee Agents.
