Katie
Collins knew she wanted to be as different from her mother as
possible. Therefore, she made a
conscious effort to make herself plain and unattractive. When
her employer offers Katie an opportunity to earn one hundred
thousand dollars in exchange for finding his daughter, Wilhemina,
a husband, Katie leaps at the chance.
As she struggles to aid Wilhemina in her search, Katie
blooms from plain to gorgeous. Katie does not realize, however,
that she will be expected to team together with attractive,
arrogant Michael Wingate in a wild goose chase when Wilhemina
dashes off to Texas in search of a cowboy to love.
Michael
recognizes immediately that there is more to Katie than meets
the eye, and soon the couple is struggling to deny their
attraction for each other as they travel from Philadelphia to
tiny towns across Texas.
Personalities
clash as Katie and Michael attempt to come to terms with issues
from their pasts, keeping the reader engaged and interested in
the final outcome of the novel.
Secondary characters Wilhemina and Doug add depth to the
story, sometimes causing the reader to be more interested in
their romance, rather than Katie and Michael’s.
Ms.
Banks does a credible job of pulling multiple story lines
together for an engaging, interesting read.
