Marshall
Ben Flood and ranch owner Lee Morgan make a stunning return in
LONG ROAD TO LAROSA. While
the previous book, STALLIONS AT BURNT ROCK, built the
characters’ lives, Paul Bagdon branches out and proves just
how much Lee and Ben mean to each other.
Lee’s
life is looking pretty close to perfect. The local
bank is about to approve her loan to purchase a number of
incredible horses; and her friendship with Ben is looking up as
well. During her
trip to the bank, she finds herself in the midst of a bank
robbery. Despite
her courage, even Lee is not able to get out of this struggle.
Zeb Stone leads the band of desperados; and Zeb opts to
take Lee hostage. He
has a score to settle with Ben, and he knows Lee is the perfect
trump card.
Ben
shudders to think of the terrible harm Zeb could bestow on Lee.
He heads off in pursuit and will not rest until he has
won Lee’s safe return. Unfortunately, Zeb is not going to rest until Ben is dead.
The odds are stacked against Ben; does he have what it
takes to win this battle?
Action
sets the pace for this thrilling story from the first paragraph.
The cat and mouse chase is on in perfect style.
More insight into both Lee and Ben’s characters takes
place within this story. Both
are determined, but then so is Zeb.
He is a perfect antagonist, tough, cruel and more
strong-minded than Ben.
While there is a touch more romance than in the previous
book, this book still leans more towards a drama/suspense than
romance. I am eager
to see what will happen next with these characters.
I truly hope more “West Texas Sunrise” books are in
the works.
